Happy Memorial Day to everyone! Hope everyone is having a nice holiday weekend. It's been a little quiet here at the MST3K club as of late and I'm thinking of starting a new contest. I don't know what of yet so maybe you have some good ideas to share. If you want a major holiday, the next major holiday in the USA is the 4th of July, but I don't know how we could center MST3K around a 4th of July themed contest. Suggestions?

Roger Barr, creator of humor site I-Mockery ([link]) started his own B-Movie showcase titled "Doc Mock's Movie Mausoleum" that airs live Friday nights @ 11 PM PST on internet TV site TheStream ([link]). In a spirit similar to MST3K, Barr stars as his mad scientist alter-ego Doc Mock and during each episode in his "mausoleum lair" Doc Mock and a comedian from the Los Angeles circuit watch and add commentary to a long-forgotten B-movie from the Doc's collection. Interspersed between parts of the movies are breaks where Doc Mock and his guest watch random old commercials and mock them.

The first episode features the 1970s Turkish superhero-ripoff movie "3 Dev Adam", which proves the limits of the effectiveness of American copyright laws where in the movie a leisure-suited Captain America fights a knife-wielding villainous Spiderman.

The second episodes features the 1986 Terminator rip-off movie "The Eliminators", produced by Charles Band who is not only known for his "Puppet Master" horror movie series but also known to MSTies for making the movies "Laserblast" and "Robot Holocaust". In this movie, an evil scientist creates a cyborg out of the body of a downed jet pilot (referred to as "Mandroid" and devises a method of time travel so he can take over the Roman Empire with the Mandroid, changing the course of history. Mandroid objects and the evil scientist orders him dismantled but the Manrdroid manages to escape. As result, the Mandroid vows revenge against the evil scientist and will stop him from travelling back to the Roman Empire with a ragtag team composed of an android scientiest (played by "Star Trek: The Next Generation" actress and Bing Crosby's granddaughter Denise Crosby), a Han Solo-esque hired mercenary, and a ninja. Cheesy action sequences ensue followed by a brain-screwing ending.

Third episode features a terrible 1980s Turkish ninja movie known as "Death Warrior". Watch as ninjas attack people from out of the ground and attack a Tom Selleck lookalike by bursting through the wall. Also watch a guy Doc Mock and his guest dub "The Turkish Fonzie" fight these evil ninjas. Laughable fighting sequences ensue. Also pay attention to the same three or four ridiculous sound effects used throughout the film.
